I still have a working GE AM/FM 9 volt pocket transistor radio I bought in my teens. The crystal over the slide dial is a bit clouded and the on/off/volume control could use a cleaning, but it still plays nice and loud, especially with an earphone which I've replaced about umpteen times now. Here's the face of one just like it only in newer condition...

Here's my first one, a Personna 6-transistor AM radio My dad bought me when I was 7, in 1959. It came with a red leather case, and had a separate little red leather case for the tiny white earphone which slipped onto the carrying strap.

Note the little mark on the dial at about 640 khz. There was another one at 1240. These were the "Conelrad" emergency channels everyone was supposed to tune to for government information in case the Russians attacked.
